A special selection committee headed by secretary for urban development J Ashok Kumarwill identify and recommend suitable members as chairperson and members of the Goa Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Regulatory Authority.
While the government cannot overrule the selection committee’s recommendations, it will have to justify if it chooses to go against the order of preference listed out by the selection committee.
The department of Urban Development on Thursday notified the rules for the appointment of the chairperson, members, officers and other employees under the Goa Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Regulatory Act (RERA).
The rules also shed clarity on employment conditions and salaries to be paid to members of the RERA authority.
"Chairperson of the authority shall be paid a monthly salary equivalent to that of the chief secretary," Kumar said, adding that members of the authority will be paid a salary equivalent to that of the principal secretary.
While the state government has yet to appoint a full time RERA authority, Kumar has been appointed as an interim Chairperson.
