The district administration on October 26 announced that the stamps and registration department will remain open for all seven days to ensure 50,000 flats are delivered by the developers, as promised in the recent meeting with UP Chief Minister.
"On September 12, Yogi Adityanath had asked officials to ensure that about 50,000 homebuyers get possession of their flats in Noida and Greater Noida areas in the next three months. Considering this as priority, we have decided that the registry department will remain open on all seven days. Officials will be available to assist people in the registration process," District Magistrate BN Singh said.
A registry department official said they have intensified their enforcement against stamp duty evasion in the twin city. "We have identified 19 persons (contractors of parking lots) for stamp duty evasion. They have not registered the properties with the department. Cases of stamp duty evasion will soon be registered and the accused will have to pay fine," he said.
Meanwhile, the district administration has introduced online registry of properties in the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida. The initiative aims at creating transparency and also reducing crowd at the registry office.
